Dr. Costa obtained a medical degree and subsequently PhD from Universidade de Sao Paulo, Brazil.
He trained in Hematology and Medical Oncology at University of Colorado and in Blood and Marrow Transplantation at Mayo Clinic, Rochester- MN.
He holds the Mary and Bill Battle Professorship in Multiple Myeloma and is a Senior Clinical Investigator at University of Alabama at Birmingham O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he also directs the Multiple Myeloma Research and Treatment Program.
Dr Costa leads several multi-institutional and international projects pioneering minimal residual disease-adapted therapy and exploring new cellular and non-cellular immunotherapies in multiple myeloma.
